2024 Year In Review

Home / About Us / 2024 Year In Review

Our Staff Members are the Lifeblood of our Organization.

In 2024, Grand Strand Humane Society….

  • Provided a safe haven for 603 dogs, 1125 cats and 6 bunnies & guinea pigs that had nowhere else to go…
  • Made 1096 families complete by adopting a precious animal into their homes…
  • Reunited 59 animals with their distraught owners who were missing them dearly…
  • Spayed or neutered 822 animals…
  • Administered 13,043 vaccines…
  • Provided 1591 microchips to pets to help keep them safe should they go missing…
  • Distributed more than 12,500 pounds of food through our Pet Food Bank…
  • Grew our foster and fospice programs with 65 dedicated foster families…
  • Transported a number of animals to rescue partners throughout the country…
  • Partnered with some unbelievable organizations throughout our community to raise funds and supplies desperately needed to care for our animals…
  • Enjoyed a year’s worth of Frisbee tosses, naps in the sun and zoomies in our lifesaving Bill M. Wingard Puppy Playground…
  • Fought and WON some very significant animal cruelty cases that will help us save countless lives in the future…
  • Procured 10 acres of land for a gratis 40 year lease, in partnership with Santee Cooper, to build our new shelter…
  • Finalized our design for our new shelter with the unwavering help of LS3P Architects…
  • Hired and began working with our Civil Engineer (Earthworks) and General Contractor (FBI) to get the process started of building our new shelter…
  • Extended our lease with Tanger Outlets so that our kitties can continue to have a more permanent home while our new facility is constructed…
  • But more than those numbers and achievements….the most important thing that GSHS did in 2024 was stay true to who we are as an organization and what we stand for. We never gave up on a single animal that walked through our doors, no matter what. Our staff, volunteers and foster parents treated all of the animals that we took in this past year just like we do our own animals. They were given love, time, patience, trust and understanding.
We made it through all of the challenges that we face on a daily basis as a family, with the absolute strongest community standing tall and proud behind us. And that is exactly what we look forward to doing once again in 2025 and beyond.
Thank you all for helping us have our best year ever here at Grand Strand Humane Society.
