Grand Strand Humane Society is pleased to announce they have named Ms. Suzanne Roman as its new Executive Director. She joined Grand Strand Humane Society on October 18, 2016.  Ms. Roman brings an extensive background with more than ten years of executive level experience in animal welfare and humane education. Her responsibilities at Grand Strand Humane Society will include the development of a ‘Best in Class’ operation through the implementation of the ‘5 Year Strategic Plan’, which was approved by the Board of Directors earlier this year.

Executive positions held in the past by Ms. Roman include:

  • Executive Director, Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter, East Hanover, NJ
  • Vice President of Development & Communications, St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, Madison, NJ
  • Director of Development, Humane Society of Catawba County, Hickory, NC.

She also held the position of Board President at the Parsippany Animal Supporters Society (PASS) from 2003 through 2010.

“We are very pleased to bring Ms. Roman on board as our new Executive Director at Grand Strand Humane Society,” noted Elena Nicholas, Board President. “Her experience and background is what our shelter needs. The recent changes with the Board along with the newly hired Executive Director will enable Grand Strand Humane Society reach its 5 Year Strategic Goals.”

Ms. Roman has a B.A. in Communications from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida, and an Associates of Arts in Communications from Morris County College, Randolph, New Jersey. She also received her certification in Animal Control with the State of New Jersey.
